This classic thogayal recipe is an easy south Indian recipe for Lunch. Thogayal is nothing but chutney but very thick, which is mixed with rice. This is even served for curd rice. The main difference from the regular chutney we grind for breakfast is we put lot of tamarind and lentil in this.

Chow chow peel (of 1 chow
Urad dal 2 tbsp
Red chillies 5 nos
Asafoetida/ Hing 1 tsp
oil 2 tsp
1. Heat oil in a pan, add urad dal, asafoetida, tamarind and red chillies. Saute it till the dal turns golden brown.
2. Transfer the roasted ingredients into a blender jar.
3. Heat the same pan, add 1 tsp cooking oil, add the washed chow chow peel and saute it for 2-3 mins.
4. Now transfer the sautéed chow chow peel into the blender jar, add salt and grind it by adding little water.
Serve it with steamed rice and til oil. Thayir Pachchadi is an excellent combo for Thogayal.
